The Cornish Riviera — GWR Poster, Louis Burleigh Bruhl, 1928
Louis Burleigh Bruhl · GWR travel poster, "The Cornish Riviera", 1928
What it is
Louis Burleigh Bruhl’s poster for the Great Western Railway’s "Cornish Riviera" seaside service.
Why it matters
A domestic counterpart to the LNER’s continental posters elsewhere on this shelf — GWR sold Cornwall itself as a destination worth the same design investment.
What to notice
A coastal scene reduced to broad, sunlit color fields — a British seaside sold with continental glamour.
The coast next door, sold like somewhere far away.
