Five Schools, Built to Deepen · Plakat — the Object Poster
Elegante Welt
Hans Rudi Erdt · Elegante Welt (magazine), 1913
What it is
Erdt designed this 1913 poster for the magazine Elegante Welt, with the cover price — 35 Pfennig — set into the design rather than tacked on.
Why it matters
It was lithographed by Hollerbaum & Schmidt in Berlin, the printing house behind most of the great Plakatstil sheets of the period.
What to notice
Thirty-five Pfennig for the elegant world, lettered by Berlin's best poster printer.
One object, one word, and nothing wasted.
